Kristy is a Body Arts and Science International Pilates Instructor whose passion for Pilates began about 6 years ago when she stumbled upon a small studio in her hometown, Redondo Beach. Knowing she needed stress relief from her 8 hour teaching job, and that she was very much into fitness and sports throughout her childhood and young adult life, she thought she'd take a gamble. As it turned out, she fell in love with the practice and went religiously 7 days a week. Not only did it satisfy her craving for physical activity, help manage her stress, and attain the muscle strength and endurance she desired, but also it had a great impact on her recent lower back issues that had increased from working with little children all day.
After majoring in Child Development, Kristy received her teaching credential from National
University and put her heart and soul into her job for the next 13 years. When she found Pilates she instantly knew her path in life had taken a turn. She began her quest to acquire a Pilates teacher certification so she could teach others the joy and over all wellness that she was so fortunate to discover. After much research, she decided that BASI was the best choice for her, due to their reputation and teaching methods. In 2013, she received her Pilates Mat teaching certification through BASI, under Master Trainer Ofie Dates. A few years later, she decided to pursue her career further and get her comprehensive apparatus teaching certification, also through BASI and under Ofie Dates, which she accomplished in the summer of 2016.
Kristy's advanced education through BASI includes Pilates Mat with the Fit Ball and Pilates with Props and Variations. She is excited to expand her Pilates knowledge with more education and certifications in the near future. Kristy looks forward to sharing her passion and knowledge to all!
Certified Yoga Instructor / Open Space Yoga
Rachel began her yoga journey in 2010. Initially she was apprehensive because
she felt that being flexible was a requirement and she lacked flexibility. It then became clear that flexibility became her goal and motivation in her Yoga practice. It wasn't until she began her Yoga Teacher Training Course through Open Space Yoga in Oahu, HI in 2016 that she realized that Yoga is so much deeper and so much more than just training the physical body to get into complex poses.
Rachel’s philosophy is that Yoga is the stillness between the breaths. It is the moment you have reached your "edge" in an asana (posture/pose) and it is the harmony between the mind, body, and breath. Yoga surrounds us in every moment of every day and Rachel’s goal in teaching is to share that wonder with as many people as she can.
Rachel’s Yoga practice embraces the love and light within her that honors the love and light in within you!
